The silence of our Friends Will forever overshadow The words of our enemies While the colorblind choose not to see They enable injustice willingly And applaud themselves contentedly But please Do speak (Hey) Among equals not all are treated the same (Same) And against pigs pigment is blamed (Blamed) Add another year to the national shame (Shame) But (Wait) That would have to mean it's possibly hate (Hate) Perpetrated on the presence of race (Race) File and (Rank) The violence of police Is not shared evenly Among all ethnicities Skin's a triviality Unless you don't look like me Then it's the only thing some see But no They'll speak (Hey) Among equals not all are treated the same (Same) And against pigs pigment is blamed (Blamed) Add another year to the national shame (Shame) But (Wait) That would have to mean it's possibly hate (Hate) Perpetrated on the presence of race (Race) File and (Rank) It's all separate but equal to Some archaic point of view That none of this pertains to you It's no sufficient compromise To give a shit three-fifths of the time And shut down when someone speaks the truth And I hope they do Yeah (Hey) Among equals not all are treated the same (Same) And against pigs pigment is blamed (Blamed) Add another year to the national shame (Shame) But (Wait) That would have to mean it's possibly hate (Hate) Perpetrated on the presence of race (Race) File and (Rank)

Why yes, I think that we're better than this No forced endorphins afford the sort of life you'd want as a kid Your breaths all sound so thick You're ever coughing when you're not sick We're a trauma ward of self-prescription The stings of needles and pins within each static moment But this won't be my life Try as I might I'll be the last one left And that's a promise kept like a secret Yet I'll never get to forget The last to flinch is always first to die The last to rot will always carry the guilt of having survived Self-despised We toe near death to keep from being alive We hide inside ourselves to spite the sights outside of our eyes But I won't be quick to die It's my right to try I'll be the last one left And that's a promise kept like a secret Yet I'll never get to forget

My Machine 05:11
There's static in my circuitry My CPU is failing me None of my sensors seem to read Beyond my cyber fantasies My machine is failing me My machine is obsolete My rotors just won't seem to turn My AI ain't equipped to learn My gears just love to jump and churn No matter how much oil I burn My machine is cold to me My machine doesn't need me I can't sing the way that I want to I can't speak the way that I want to I can't move the way that I want to I can't feel the way that I want to My machine is so ugly My machine, my machine My settings are under remote control I have a headpiece to hide a hole My engine burns the food like coal I haven't the RAM to possess a soul My machine yearns for sleep Between the dreams of electric sheep My machine is betraying me My machine is killing me

Well her eyes are the pit Of an empty well Her voice a silence That sounds in Hell With her ears made numb To the chimes and bells Of the churches she knew well Go away, my dear Far away from here To a land of golden shores May your heart find peace When your soul's released And your body be weary no more My lover's eyes once bloomed Like irises in June They've long since opened Ne'ery a day I pray against all sense And bitter discontent Than an angel take her away Go away, my dear Far away from here To a land of golden shores May your heart find peace When your soul's released And your body be weary no more My true love's heart still beats Somewhere down beneath Her faded skin And her jagged breaths Her embrace, it grips me still I fear it ever will Until I too am pulled to the grave

To have and hold A terminal Affliction Of affection I've choked on words enough To know it in my gut I'd only botch it up A coward dies a thousand deaths And I'm dying to live just once Seems like everyone I see is alive but me And I'm begging to live just once One time When I speak My dumb words define the Rest of me What you see Is some bastard design of The rest of me Isn't it insane How our minds can be enslaved By sensations of the heart? And isn't it absurd How our perceptions can usurp The truth of who we are? Starting from that age When your sex drive is engaged Your mind never strays too far From that adolescent fright Of another lonely night And how vulnerable you are Sweet dreams To my identity You're only What you're seen to be A bad scene Always to follow me I was gasping for air hoping anyone would hear And I choked on silence again I was begging the question, "am I even really here?" And I choked on silence again
6.
As a voiceless, singing breath Alive in every feable lung In the rhythm of our steps And in every human tongue My life for you As seen in every lingering stare between lovers And every writhing hum The wisdom that shakes the air From the old unto the young My life for you My life for you And no one else but you Nobody above you

about

This is our sophomore EP. The Tolerate or Die line-up fell apart midway through the recording process. After playing together for a few years, Kyle had decided he'd had enough of the band life, and Chris had moved back home somewhat far from the So Sorry base of operations. Basically, after the tracking sessions for the rhythm section I was on my own. I didn't know yet if I'd be continuing the band or not, but I desperately wanted to finish this record and make it something greater than what Tolerate or Die was. I called on friends, lovers, and relative strangers alike to help me add to the tracks. It was an emotionally hard process. It took some serious tunnel vision to get through the remaining sessions, and it's been a really hard year since we went in for tracking around the end of June 2017.

For all the time constraints and massive setbacks in those sessions I think we pulled it off. I can fixate forever on what might have been had things gone differently around that time, but I'm very proud of the record we made and I'm very happy with the new line-up (hello, Glenden and Mike!) Thank you so much for listening to Command Presence.

Tolerate or Die,
Connor
